How do I set up my Charity Profile?

Your charity profile is your very own corner of the GivePenny website. It’s where you can tell everyone all about who you are and the incredible work you do. It’ll have links and ideas for Fundraisers to get started raising money for your cause.

Many of our Fundraisers are fabulous people who want to do something good in the world but aren’t tied to any one particular charity. Your profile is your opportunity to convert new Fundraisers to your cause!

The basics
Your Charity Admin Email Address will be the address that receives all of your charity’s notification emails. They’re important to keep for your records, but not the most interesting reading material, so we recommend you use an admin address here.

The Contact is – you guessed it – the person we contact regarding your charity’s activities on GivePenny. We promise not to spam them, but it’s good to have their details just in case we need a catch-up!


Get creative
Now you get to customise your page!

Charity Headline: Your Charity Headline should be under 140 characters long, and tell Fundraisers what your charity is all about. Keep it short and sweet for maximum impact, so drill down to the core of why you do what you do!

Description: Your description is your chance to really sell that amazing cause you work for! Talk about your goals, your purpose, the kind of world you’re trying to build. We recommend keeping this section under 2-3 paragraphs.

YouTube Intro Video Slug: Video is one of the most engaging ways to really inspire digital audiences! If you don’t already have an introduction video that sums up your charity, use this opportunity to make one! You don’t need a fancy production budget; even a selfie-mode phone video introducing yourself and welcoming browsers to your GivePenny page is a great way to appeal to potential Fundraisers.

Here we ask you to provide us with your charity’s address. This won’t be added to your visible profile page, but we use it to confirm that your details are consistent with those held by The Charity Commission. Serious business.

Social: add links to your social media channels to encourage fundraisers to engage with you digitally.

Logo: We know how important visual branding is to our charities, so here’s where you pop in your Charity Logo. Please make sure this is square and sized 300 x 300 pixels, so we can make sure it stays looking as gorgeous as it was designed to be.

Banner Video: A nice-to-have, but not a must-have! Your banner video will play silently behind your Banner Logo at the top of the page, when visited on desktop. It will be played on a loop without sound, so avoid talking heads and avoid text which will look odd behind your Banner Logo. The video must be in mp4 format and be 16:9 aspect ratio, and under 2mb in size.

Banner Image: Your Banner Image will be displayed instead of your Banner Video on smaller devices like mobile… or on all devices, if you choose not to upload a Banner Video. Your image needs to be 1920 x 1080 pixels. As your Banner Logo will appear over the middle of your Banner Image, we recommend choosing an image with a focal point to the left or right of the frame.

Banner Logo: The Banner Logo will appear at the top of your page, and will overlay your Banner Video or Banner Image. It needs to be 300 x 300 pixels in size, and we recommend using a white or transparent background saved as a PNG, to ensure it looks nice and sharp against your Banner Image or Video.

Payment: Not as scary as it sounds, it’s how YOU get payment! If you haven’t already, sign up to and link a Stripe Account.
It enables donors to pay using things like debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc, it’s free, super secure and means you get GivePenny donations instantly.
If donors pay by PayPal, the donations land with GivePenny in your very own corner of GivePenny land, and we send them to you at the end of the following month.

And you’re done! You can hit that satisfying “Finish” button at the bottom of the page. Don’t worry if you’ve made a mistake, you can hop on back to your Profile page at any time and make changes.
